  • Remember the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were big.

This is one of my favorite quotes because it sums up why I love photography. I remember when I brought my first child home from the hospital, I wanted to stop time. I cried everyday for 4 days mourning the day before because he was growing and changing so fast. On the fifth day, I stopped crying and made time stand still with my camera. I cherish every photograph of his tiny feet and roly-poly thighs because I know that I will blink and one day his not-so-tiny feet will be walking him to college! That is why I appreciate this art form so much. A photograph stops time long enough to see the little miracles in front of us everyday. A photograph takes a fraction of a second and makes it last forever so it can be savored and revisited. I strive to not just get a great shot of your children, but images that also reflect who they are in that moment in time. I love what I do and I hope it shows in every part of my work.

There will never be a perfect time for family portraits. People are real, not perfect. We have bad hair days, we want to lose weight, and we are just so busy. Schedule a session anyway. You’ll be so glad you have these moments to treasure forever. Down the road, when your teenager is grabbing the car keys, you will pull out your album and marvel at how tiny his fingers were when he was a baby.

This family JUST moved into my neighborhood.  They closed on their house Friday, moved in on Saturday and had a baby on Sunday!  Seriously.  Can you imagine?

I am on a list to be contacted when someone in the neighborhood needs a little extra help, or prayers, or a dinner, and I that’s how I met the “R” family.  I brought them dinner on the Wednesday after this precious baby arrived!  And what a cute little man he is!

Happy Mother’s Day | mom and kid selfies

The other day I mentioned on Facebook about my goal to get some pictures of myself and each of my kids this week leading up to Mother’s Day.  I am always the one behind the camera so I challenged myself to get out the tripod and camera remote and get IN the picture with the kids.  Surprisingly, all 3 kids did very well and willingly participated.  They even wanted to go back for more…unheard of in this family!

If you are rarely/never in the pictures, make it a point to get yourself on the other side of the camera for once.  You don’t need a tripod and remote, just a wiling set of hands to hold your camera. You are an important member of your family too.  Your kids will treasure having pictures with you and you will too. Have fun!

Here’s a few of mine…

Special thanks to my friend Melissa B. who taught me her never-fail posing trick:)!

Let’s hope the kids are just as eager to be photographed tomorrow for Mother’s Day when I try to get a picture of all three of them together!

What a fantastic family this is!  I truly enjoyed getting to know them and I’m sure I’ll be seeing more of them because they live in my neighborhood.  This 9 month-old little guy was just precious and and so content…oh, and his HAIR!  <3

Another quick one from my bluebonnets mini sessions.  I adore this family.  Little man is a typical two year old boy…curious, independent, and so lovable!

Bluebonnet Mini Session | Plano Child Photographer

I need to bring these two girls to all my sessions.  We had so much fun!  First, they helped me wrangle the precious one-year old twins seen in this post.  Then, it was time for their session and they did this amazing thing…they sat and smiled and looked at the camera…and I didn’t even have to act like a complete idiot to get them to laugh!  Not only that, but they were also full of great ideas for “poses” and shots we could take.  The older girl told me she has never taken a bad picture!  I love that confidence!  You go girl.
